How We Work

A phase-gate methodology — consistent structure, adapted to where your project enters.

Every LTR engagement follows a structured phase-gate process. Each phase has defined inputs, defined outputs, and a review gate before proceeding. We do not require clients to enter at Phase 1 — we adapt the engagement to where the product currently is. What does not change is the structure: documented decisions, clear deliverables, and a defined gate before the next phase begins.

Concept and Requirements

LTR works with the client to define what the product must do, the constraints it must meet, and the technical risks it carries. All requirements are documented and agreed before design begins. This phase prevents scope drift and establishes a baseline for every design decision that follows.

Design

Requirements are translated into a complete technical design. Hardware architecture, firmware architecture, and mechanical design are developed in parallel where applicable. Design decisions are documented, reviewed, and approved at a gate review before prototyping begins.

Output Design package (schematics, mechanical files, firmware architecture specification), preliminary BOM, design review report.

Prototyping and Validation

Functional prototypes are built and tested against the product requirements. EVT validates that the hardware functions as designed. DVT validates that the integrated system meets the product specification. Each cycle produces documented test results and a defined set of design actions that must be resolved before proceeding.

Output Validated prototype units, EVT/DVT test reports, design action log, updated design package.

Design for Manufacturing

The validated design is reviewed for manufacturability and unit cost. Design changes are identified and implemented. Suppliers and contract manufacturers are identified, evaluated, and qualified against LTR's supplier criteria. The BOM is finalized with sourcing options documented and dual-sourcing considered where appropriate.

Output DFM report, production-ready BOM, qualified supplier shortlist, supplier evaluation report.

Production Preparation

The validated, DFM-reviewed design transitions to first production. LTR manages the NPI process: first-article inspection, production test specification, production trial, and handoff to the manufacturing partner. The product exits this phase ready for volume production.
